The South West SMART Club is a group of high technology companies in the South West who have won funding for research and development from the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under the SMART funding scheme. The SMART scheme has recently been renamed Grants for Research and Development but it remains a highly competitive scheme in which only the best ideas and companies win. The technologies covered by Members of the Club span a wide range of disciplines including aviation, bio-technology, computer hardware, computer software, electronics, engineering, medicine, sensor technology and many others. All the companies are small, some are new, some are well established. This website is designed for three different groups of visitors: Members of the Club as a point of contact and source of information. Companies wishing to find a particular product or expertise.
